The Ice Cube Project

posted Friday, 26 March 2004

CAPTION:
A painted iceberg, an artwork, entitled 'The Ice Cube Project,' by Chilean-born artist Marco Evaristti floats in Ilulissat Fiord, Greenland. Evaristti used 3,000 litres of paint diluted with sea water, three fire hoses, two icebreakers and a 20-man crew to complete the task in about two hours. This is not art. This is irresponsible. Dumping 3,000 litres of diluted paint isn't art, it's a crime that should be punished with jail time.

Shame on Marco Evaristti.

HAHA, oh that's funny!

you're so worried about pollution? stop driving a car, stop eating fast food, stop buying clothing, stop buying anything that's name brand, stop smoking (if you do) and stop using a bloody computer (where do you think most of the power it needs comes from?)

don't be hypocrites, shape up your own act before you shame someone else.

Refresh my memory...how exactly is this art? Irresponsible? Yes. Unneccesary? Yes. Destructive? Yes. Art? Not so much... With the end result simply being a photograph, Photoshop would have been the better choice. Now if it were cherry syrup, resulting in the world's largest snow cone...THAT would be something! Still not art, but something...

Killerama, Explain to me the purpose of this "art". This is not art, it's a waste of money, effort and time AND an additional stress on the environment. How can you compare this deliberate, useless stress on the environment, to energy use, and fast food? Please. Give me one useful purpose for this? Expecially when the photo could have been achieved sitting at home with a marker and photo.

Dear Marco, Why didn’t you paint your eye balls green? Why didn’t you bleach your tougne white? or simply boil it till off-white? Why didn’t you mutate your skull (not your hairstyle)? Or, why not mummify your manhood? And of course, exempt yourself from medical care when enjoying any of these funs.

people get stupider everytime i turn around. i can't believe someone condoned pollution of this scale, let alone pay money to help do it. yet here it is before my eyes.

i think the person who thought his up should be shot.
